Join Jazz Band!

All Fifth Graders are invited to join Jazz Band!
BMS has had a successful beginner Jazz Band program for over 30 years! Students thrive in this new experience and go on to perform in the various jazz bands at Tahanto. Jazz Band is fun, engaging and a wonderful opportunity to explore this popular style of music. The group will meet once a week after school, play beginning jazz music, and learn how to improvise (performing a solo that is made up on the spot to go along with the piece being performed). Students should have at least one year of experience playing their instrument in order to qualify.

In the past, this program was run by a teacher on a volunteer basis. Due to contractual issues, teachers cannot volunteer their time any longer. This year, we will run the program as an after school program, funded by the students who are participating and supported by LINK, inc. We are excited to announce that Mr. Gallant, one of the fantastic music teachers from Tahanto, will be leading the Jazz Band this year.

The first session of Jazz Band will run on Wednesdays from 3:15 – 4:15 beginning on September 21st. The performance will be on January 19th, as part of the elementary school concert. You will be paying for the first half of the year session only. Payment for the second half of the year will be in January.

We ask that you fill out the after school program form, and send in a deposit check for $50 made out to LINK, inc by September 15, 2016. The remainder of the cost will depend on how many students sign up (the more students the lower the cost). Total will not exceed $135 for the first session and we will contact you with more information. It will likely be much lower.
