May 17 – 26: Today we kick-off the big Fun Run fundraising event and we need YOUR HELP to make it a great success. Before the big run, students earn prizes from the donations they earn. Each morning, we need a few helping hands to pick prizes and deliver them to the right classroom.
On the day of the BIG RUN (Friday, May 26th) we need YOUR HELP setting up our run and cheering on our runners! We also could use some camping gear to set-up our themed run as our runners run through the campsites after having visited the national parks all week long through their character building effort.
So – follow the link to sign-up and help. And, if you’ve got a tent, some camp chairs, maybe an ice chest or cool lamp that can add to the atmosphere, please drop it by the morning of the run by 8:30am!
Wednesday, May 31: This year’s teacher and staff appreciation luncheon will be held on Wednesday, May 31st. This is a great event organized by LINK, but only made possible by generous donations from you. We have hired the Rossidini food-truck to provide the main meal, and would appreciate your help adding the side dishes and dessert items. We’re also collecting gift baskets to raffle off to our teachers and staff. Think “summer theme” and put together a basket or two that says “THANKS!” All items can be delivered to the school in the morning. We thank you for your donations to make this event possible and say thanks to our teachers and staff.
How do you get your kid(s) to read this summer?!? By supporting the summer-reading-challenge! LINK, Inc. is happy to support Mrs. Woodward’s efforts at getting our kid’s nose-deep into books this summer. We’ll be hosting a webpage with teacher and community members reading amazing stories… we’ll be partnering with the Berlin Public Library to let kids earn raffle tickets for visiting the library… we’ll be co-hosting community picnic/reading events THIS SUMMER!
Details for the challenge will be released the afternoon of Field Day (June 8).
And, in the meantime… if you’ve got former birthday or holiday gifts unused and taking space on your shelves; if you’ve got a stash of new, but too-young for your kids toys or fun things that you’d like to donate – we’d LOVE to take them to create an amazing set of raffle prizes for this summer reading challenge.
Drop-off your donations to Mrs. Rapa’s desk anytime before June 5th. LINK will happily purchase whatever else is needed. We don’t want to ask families to spend any extra money. We DO want to put your collection of new but unused items to good use. Consider donations today!
Thursday, June 8: It’s time for that amazing day-of-the-year when all our kids get out and get sweaty having SO MUCH FUN at this annual tradition – Field Day! Volunteers are needed to support Mrs. Draper’s efforts to make this an amazing experience. Field Day takes place on June 8th!
Wednesday, June 14: The last day of school is a sentimental one for our big-time 5th graders. With recognition of their accomplishments, a gift of appreciation from our community, and a school-wide clap-out, this day is a big one for these amazing kids.
It’s a long-standing BMS tradition to have parents and families on site with signs and silly-strong to cheer them on as they leave the building for the last time. With that complete, we’ll ask our newest BMS graduates to join the crowd and cheer and wave as the rest of our BMS learners head home for the summer.
Bring your signs and silly-string and make this a memorable way to send our kids off into their summer!
Mark Your Calendar: Wednesday, June 14
